Kerala’s contribution towards India’s travel and tourism sector is
always illustrious. Known as ‘God’s Own Country’, this Southern state is
home to several breathtaking backwaters, hill stations, forests, spice
plantation tours and more. The state attracts sizable foreign and
domestic tourists every year.
The state of tourism in Kerala
Kerala has been witnessing a consistent surge in the number of
tourists visiting the state. A total of 9, 23, 366 foreign tourists
visited the state in 2014. This number stood at 8, 58, 143 in 2013.
Similarly, the state received 116, 95, 411 domestic tourists in 2014,
whereas 108, 57, 811 domestic tourists visited the state in 2013. Riding
high on such growth trend, Kerala expects around 15% increase in the
